"Highly rated for taste in 2014 trials. Pole, snap bean. Attractive pods are green with vivid purple stripes; long; curved at the tip (j-hook shape); round in cross section. Excellent cucumber-like flavor; tender, juicy, crunchy. Fully expanded pods 8-8.5" long; 0.4-0.5" wide. Mature pods yellow with purple stripes. Shelling and dry beans have a smooth, creamy texture and slightly sweet flavor. Dry beans hard seeded. Somewhat tough skin. Dry pods shattering. 8-10 seeds per pod. Seeds dark grey with black stripes; long, oval. Non-pigmented plants. Dark pink flowers. Highly productive; mid-season maturing when grown in 2014 at Heritage Farm. Donated to SSE by Patricia Brady (TN BR P2) who acquired this variety from Stephen Posey (GA PO S). It was introduced into the Exchange by Posey in 1997 who described it as a variety which Mr. Parker's great-grandfather brought from Ireland in 1840's. SSE Accession # 105384."
