"SSE acquired this accession from the Thompson & Morgan seed company, who listed it from 1983-1990. The 1983 catalog spells the name of the variety "Rudolpho". In 1984, the catalog spells the name of the variety "Rodolpho" and provides the same description as the 1983 catalog. Subsequent listings used the "Rodolpho" spelling. As of 2014, SSE staff have been unable to find any release or development information for this variety. The 1983 Thompson & Morgan catalog provides the following description: "15" Round Pods. (52 Days.) Freezer. It is distinctly erect, which holds the pencil shaped pods well clear of the soil, they are 100% stringless throughout the season and exceptionally fleshy caused by the unusual absence of hollow gaps within the pod. The superb bean flavor has been emphasized and the outer skin is tender unlike so many modern varieties. It has powerful disease tolerance, resisting infection when all beans around are failing.
